Exotic Wood

Our wood and coconut shell designs are a vegan alternative to horn and bone! Your sizing options are: coconut shell in sizes 1.5mm through 3mm only and our various wood designs in 3mm-25mm. Coconut, Ebony and Sabo Wood prices are the same as horn and bone. Bloodwood costs slightly more. Ebony comes in either a solid black or a black/brown grain variety. Please specify if you have a preference. Sabo wood is a light brown that darkens over time with wear from natural oils of hair and skin. All designs within the wood category are available in all woods. Large size bloodwood is difficult to find and make, but orders are still welcome. We will notify you if there are any problems. As an organic material, it should not come into contact with water or humidity, as those elements (along with altitude change and climate change) can cause it to warp, crack, or break. Direct Sunlight can also cause warping, cracking, or breaking. Tawapa is not responsible for breaks or cracks in the jewelry that occur after it has arrived and been worn. Please don’t sleep in your jewelry, as it may break. Our jewelry is strong yet not invincible. If you would like to shine up any of the wood, jojoba oil works great. Because these materials are made from matter from the vegetable kingdom and once required water, drying out of jewelry made from these materials does occur. A miniscule dab on a toothbrush or sponge will go a long way. Though this will surely quicken the darkening of your wood. We are sorry, but wood cannot be inlayed with other materials. Be aware that some people have allergies to bloodwood. If you know this about yourself, then find yourself a nice little alternative. None of our jewelry is intended to be worn through a mucous membrane. Nor is it intended to be ingested. We design our jewelry for healed piercings only and not for the process of stretching.
