“Classic” indicates that it will fit through the non-stretched ear lobe, but this category is composed of some of our most inspired designs. It is far more advanced than your ordinary classic earrings. Like their stretchy eared compadres, people with the conventional ear lobe can wear jewelry made from water buffalo horn and bone, a variety of woods, silver and gold. While the posts of our classic jewelry are designed for anybody to wear, widths do vary and measure at below 1mm up to 2mm. If these sizes seem like a very miniscule size, fitting a 2mm post through a non-stretched ear would be a challenge. If your ears have been pierced for many years, the holes have inevitably stretched some. The amount of stretch depends on the weight of the jewelry you’ve worn in your life and the elasticity of your skin. If these sizes seem surprisingly large to you, then please consider that some of the designs in our classic jewelry line (ie: our antique reproduction hoops in silver and gold) are quite heavy, and we make the posts thicker in order to support their weight. In any case, if our classic jewelry is too large for your earring holes, we suggest you visit your local piercing shop, and have them stretch your ears slightly. They’ll shrink back eventually if you allow them to. This is a hand crafted product, so there will be slight variances in diameter and design. In filling your order, we will select the pair(s) that we feel are the most beautiful, rather than a replica of the image you see on our website. Organic materials (horn, wood) should not come into contact with water or humidity, as those elements (along with altitude change and climate change) can cause jewelry to warp, crack, or break. Direct Sunlight can also cause warping, cracking, or breaking. Wood is guaranteed to naturally darken over time. Tawapa is not responsible for breaks or cracks in the jewelry that occur after it has arrived and/or been worn. Silver and gold are priced at market value and are subject to change without notice. Our silver hoops are inspired by traditional designs, and some are actual antique reproductions. All of our silver is sterling. Don’t forget to polish for a cleaner look as it ages. Our gold designs begin as sterling silver and are then twice dipped in 18 karat gold for a thicker coat. It needs only a light polish; we suggest a gold polishing cloth. Keep in mind that a slow lightening of the gold will occur over time. Please don’t sleep in your jewelry, as it is extremely delicate and may break. Think of it as an intricately carved piece of art masquerading as jewelry. Would you sleep in a Picasso? We didn’t think so. None of our jewelry is intended to be worn through a mucous membrane. Nor is it intended to be ingested. We design our jewelry for healed piercings only and not for the process of stretching.
